Everyone by now knows that I'm mostly Irish... but what you may not have known is that a big chunk, a good 25% thanks to my Pop, is {
drumroll please...}
Norwegian. I use to get upset that I wasn't a pure blood {kidding here} but lately, I've been wanting to learn more and more about my non-Irish heritage. So in honor of Norway's
Constitution Day yesterday, here are a few things paying tribute to my Pop's dear homeland!
The closest I've ever been to Norway was when I was in Epcot. Okay, not the same, but there was a building like this!
I would love to go to a town like this... it looks so fun.
This part of my heritage is already being celebrated... my favorite Christmas cookie, Norwegian Butter Cookies. Warning, come Christmas, I will post the recipe. And you will die of excessive butter consumption.
I like to imagine my great grandmothers and grand aunts in this little girl...
I've also started incorporating the Scandinavian tradition of putting tangerines in Christmas stockings to represent the gold nuggets that St. Nicholas left for dowry money for young ladies... but I'm desperately trying to find more Norwegian traditions to incorporate with my family {you know all two of us for now!}.
Also, my favorite unrelated
Norwegian.
And a few more famous ones.
Okay, I'm dying to know. What is your heritage?
