vintage tuesday

I've had this idea in my head for a while... I think I want to switch out the knobs on my kitchen cabinets and drawers to something with a little more pop. My kitchen is very tiny, very old and very hard to work with. Its hard to really make it look better than it is, but I think some vintage glass knobs would really make a difference.

Our kitchen is green and black with ivory, not white. As much as I would love to use green glass knobs, I wouldn't want to have a bunch of greens clashing. So I'm thinking some black glass... what do you think?

Let me know if you find any great glass drawer knobs anytime soon - because this is definitely a project I'm loving! In the meantime, you can find these knobs here.

monday motivation

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us and its almost December, I hope all of you are ready for Christmas! I know I am! I have a few more Christmas projects to finish up and I certainly have a lot of baking to do! I can't wait to pull out my Kitchenaid for a weekend and go to town.

thankful {day 4}

Today, I am thankful for my family and for our ability to all be together on this wonderful holiday!

and I'm of course thankful for my new family as well!

What are you thankful for today?

turkey day

Happy Thanksgiving! I love that Thanksgiving is the 25th this year... exactly one month until Christmas! I'm actually pretty proud of myself for keeping my love for Christmas relatively toned down this year.  Perhaps its because I'm much busier these days, we'll never know! Either way, my Macy's Parade watching is infinitely better knowing that I've got one month to the day.

A short post - just wanted to wish you all a happy day! Hope you are all enjoying the feast and gearing up for a wonderful holiday season!

thankful {day 3}

Today, I am thankful for kitchens, the people in them, and the foods made in them.

home for the holidays

When J and I left Pittsburgh all night, I was under the impression that I had about an 9 hour trip to Raleigh, where we would sleep for a few hours, eat some breakfast with his parents, then get back on the road to Charleston today.  Around 10pm last night we were joking about how much longer we had to drive, I was saying that we probably only had around 7 hours and J kept saying 9... and then of course, we came to the realization that we were on totally different pages here!

via

Needless to say, we arrived in Charleston around 5:30am. We managed the trip in just barely under 10 hours (please do not tell any of the traffic cops...).  Now, after about 5 hours of sleep, I'm sitting on the couch with my Momma's Mac basking in the South Carolina air. Oh how I have missed it!

via

I'm so lucky that my family lives in such a beautiful place. Of course, I'm lucky to have grown up here, but I love that I am able to travel here for holidays and vacations.

via

So that brings me to my next point... where do you call home? What's your favorite part about it? I'm proud to say my home is Charleston, South Carolina and my favorite part is how you can practically taste the salt water in the air.

vintage tuesday {lumiere}

How wonderful would these look on a Thanksgiving day table? Perfect I think!

Is it just me, or does every candlestick I see look like Lumiere?
